Visit the historic mining town of Oatman, less than 20 miles east on Route 66, and get acquainted with some of the locals...don't get caught in the shoot-out at high-noon, though!
Beautiful Lake Havasu is about 30 miles to the south on Arizona Highway 95. Stroll across the London Bridge or take a ferry across the water to the casino on the opposite shore. Boat, kayak or canoe the Colorado River through the scenic Topock Gorge where you can visit ancient petroglyphs, picnic on a beach, and fish for trophy red-eared perch.
Laughlin, Nevada is 35 miles to the north with dining, entertainment and gaming. Ride the water taxis, book a jet boat tour through the Topock Gorge or take a sunset dinner cruise on the Colorado River.
The Park overlooks Little Goose Lake in the Topock Marsh where you can dip your line and haul in a lunker or two. Crappie, Blue Gill and other sunfish, Striped Bass, Large mouth and Small mouth Bass as well as Catfish are all pulled from these waters. Fish from the shore or launch your boat at either of the two boat launches located within five miles of the Campground. There are always fishermen ready to share fishing tips and fish tales.
The Topock Marsh, located in the Havasu National Wildlife refuge is a prime birding area. Glide your kayak across the water through a squadron of white pelicans; catch a glimpse of an endangered southwestern willow fly catcher or a Yuma ridgeways rail.
Bring your off road toys and spend days exploring the desert accessed directly across Powell Lake Road from the park. Ride thousands of miles of trails and explore the many mines in the nearby mountains.
Grand Canyon National Park is an easy day's drive. Take a hike along the South Rim or try one of the mule rides down into the Canyon. Keep your camera ready - it is an experience you'll want to remember!
